Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton Sings 'Hallelujah' on 'SNL'

The first post-election "Saturday Night Live" didn't open with a knee-slapping sketch spoofing the presidential candidates from the previous week, nor did it include Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump.

Instead, the show opened on a somber note: Cast member Kate McKinnon -- in character as pantsuit-wearing Hillary Clinton -- kicked off the cold open at a piano playing and singing "Hallelujah" by singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, who died Monday at 82.

The lyrics of the song also seemed to speak to Clinton's defeat:

I did my best, it wasn't much I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you And even though It all went wrong I'll stand before the Lord of Song With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

After her moody performance, McKinnon's Clinton said, "I'm not giving up and neither should you."
