Bernie Sanders will hit the campaign trail again next week, talking to labor groups and speaking on behalf of Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton, at two events in New Hampshire on Monday.
Aside from a televised speech to his fans and followers earlier this month, the Labor Day events will be a shift for the senator who has otherwise spent the summer since the national Democratic Party convention in Philadelphia with his family and staff in Vermont working on his upcoming book.
Sanders on Monday will first attend a breakfast with the local chapter of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations in Manchester, New Hampshire. According to his staff, he has attended the same event over the past couple of years, but this go-around he will also specifically make a case for Clinton and local Democratic Senate candidate, former Gov. Maggie Hassan.
Then he will participate in an organizing event in Lebanon, New Hampshire. That event was promoted today by the Clinton campaign. "Sanders will discuss Hillary Clinton's plan to building an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top," the Clinton campaign said in a press release.
Sanders' return to campaign life was expected. He has repeatedly expressed interest in traveling again and working to get out the vote, especially in areas where he did well. The senator beat Clinton by 22 percentage points in New Hampshire, though the two returned there together in July for a joint event when Sanders formally endorsed his former opponent.
Monday is shaping up to be a big day for the Democratic presidential nominee as Clinton herself is holding two events.
