President Obama and the First Family Visit Yosemite National Park

President Obama and the first family are spending their weekend enjoying Yosemite National Park in California in celebration of the 100th anniversary of U.S. national park system.

The president will deliver remarks early in the day with the Yosemite Valley as his backdrop, leaving the rest of the day open for the family to enjoy the park's scenic views.

The Obamas arrived in Yosemite on Friday evening after spending that day touring Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico.

Obama is expected in his remarks to address initiatives by his administration to protect the national park system. The White House said the Obama administration has protected more than 265 million acres of public lands and waters across the country, more than any other president in history.

Obama has used previous visits to parks to bring attention to climate change. He even appeared in a taping of an episode of Bear Grylls' reality show on a 2015 visit to the Alaskan wilderness.
