Former Rep. Aaron Schock was back in the Capitol today for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Capitol Hill.
The former Illinois Republican congressman, who resigned last year amid an investigation into his financial dealings, was seen on the House floor chatting with old colleagues, including Rep. Cathy McMorris Rogers, R-Washington. He was wearing his member pin on the lapel of his jacket. (Former members retain their floor privileges after leaving Congress.)
Schock even nabbed an aisle seat, where he greeted Modi as the Indian leader entered the chamber.
A grand jury has been hearing testimony on how the former congressman used campaign and official funds.
As a member of Congress, Schock worked extensively on Indian issues and was referred to as a "Modi supporter" by Indian outlets when he resigned.
Modi, who addressed a joint session of Congress today, was invited to the Hill by House Speaker Paul Ryan.
