Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will campaign with Ohio Gov. John Kasich in Ohio Monday, Kasich's campaign announced Sunday night.
Romney, who has not formally endorsed any candidate in this year's race for the Republican presidential nomination, has recorded robocalls for Kasich and one of the governor's opponents, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., but has yet to make an appearance on the campaign trail on behalf of any candidate.
He did earlier this month blast Republican front-runner Donald Trump during a speech in which he encouraged voters to support Trump's opponents, Kasich, Rubio or U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
Romney will join Kasich at two Ohio events Monday: an afternoon town hall in North Canton and an evening rally in Kasich's hometown of Westerville, Kasich's campaign said.
But Romney’s appearance with Kasich will not constitute an endorsement and the former Massachusetts governor, who lost the 2012 presidential election to President Obama, will not endorse the Ohio governor on Monday, Kasich spokesman Chris Schrimpf told ABC News.
Polls show Kasich locked in a close race with Trump before Ohio's Republican primary Tuesday.
