A former Republican nominee for president is set to escalate his attacks on the hopeful nominee Donald Trump this morning. Mitt Romney is expected to say that Trump "gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat" at a speech in Utah.
“Here's what I know,” Romney is expected to say. “Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He's playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.”
Romney will also argue that Trump will lose to "untrustworthy and dishonest" former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton if she is the Democratic nominee, according to his prepared remarks obtained by ABC News.
Trump endorsed Romney for president back in 2012.
