Based on analysis of the vote, ABC News projects that Donald Trump will win the Mississippi Republican primary.
Record or near-record levels of economic anxiety, support for temporarily banning Muslims from entering the country and backing for deportation of Muslims were helping Trump in Mississippi, according to exit polls.
Preliminary exit poll results indicted that six in 10 GOP voters in Mississippi were looking for a political outsider. Of them, about 70 percent voted for Trump, which is among his broadest support to date from outsider voters.
A remarkable eight out of 10 Republican voters in Mississippi said they were not just worried about the U.S. economy but are "very" worried about it. Trump won strong in this group, according to preliminary exit poll data.
