Former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina endorsed her one-time rival, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, at a campaign event today.
Fiorina said last week during the Virginia primary that she didn't vote for herself, despite appearing on the ballot, but instead chose Cruz.
"I checked the box for Ted Cruz and I am here to tell you why," Fiorina said today.
Fiorina voted during the Virginia primary last Tuesday on Super Tuesday.
“He has fought for our religious liberty,” she said. “He is a leader and reformer.”
“The truth is that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are two sides of the same coin,” she said.
Cruz "has won over and over and over,” she said, citing several primary and caucus victories so far. “He has won.”
Fiorina dropped out of the presidential race in early February after a disappointing seventh place finish in the New Hampshire primary.
The endorsement comes the day after Donald Trump chalked up major victories in Michigan and Mississippi and just a week before crucial contests for Marco Rubio and John Kasich in their home states next Tuesday.
