'The Dean Scream’: Remembering the Infamous Iowa Speech

"We're going to Washington, D.C. to take back the White House...YEEEEEAAAGH!”

"The Dean Scream" -- part of former presidential candidate's Howard Dean's infamous Iowa caucus speech in 2004 -- is back.

The 11-minute-long speech (and screech) is being revisited today in the first film of a five-part series by Nate Silver's FiveThrityEight and ESPN Films that will explore some of the most iconic moments in U.S. presidential election history.

The series' first short film, titled "The Dean Scream," seeks to answer if Dean's loud outburst actually derailed his run for the White House.

Following the impassioned address on Jan. 19, 2004, Dean's holler was widely rebroadcast and portrayed as a media gaffe that ended his presidential campaign.

Comedians and late-night show hosts, including Dave Chappelle and Conan O'Brien, parodied the speech.

The former presidential candidate later claimed the yelp was due to a crack in his voice because of all his "whooping and hollering" in Iowa.

"The Dean Scream" also got nicknamed "I Have a Scream" since Dean made the address on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
