The late Justice Antonin Scalia will lie in repose at the Supreme Court Friday, the Court announced today.
A private ceremony will be held in the Court at 9:30 a.m. after which the event will be open to the public from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.
In keeping with Court tradition dating back to 1873, Scalia's place on the Bench, his chair and the Bench directly ahead of his seat, have been draped in a black wool crepe. A black drape has also been hung above the doors to the Court.
The last justice to lie in repose at the Court was Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who passed away in 2005.
Scalia died Saturday while in Texas on a quail-hunting trip and officials believe that his passing was due to natural causes.
