Relatives of Brittany Maynard have stated the 29-year-old died Sunday using Oregon's Death with Dignity Act after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
'Brittany passed away today and now (flies) with the angels,' wrote Summer Holmes-Philips. 'Our family is grieving her loss.'
The 29-year-old moved to Portland, Oregon from California after learning she had only a few months to live because of a glioblastoma brain tumor, which caused seizures.
'Goodbye to all my dear friends and family that I love. Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness,' Maynard wrote on Facebook, according to People Magazine. 'The world is a beautiful place, travel has been my greatest teacher, my close friends and folks are the greatest givers. I even have a ring of support around my bed as I type ... Goodbye world. Spread good energy. Pay it forward!'

Oregon is one of five states, including Montana, New Mexico, Washington and Vermont, with legislation that allows physicians in some circumstances to help their patients end their life.
The debilitating effects of her brain cancer discovered in January inspired Maynard to end her life on Nov. 1 after completing a bucket list, which included a trip to the Grand Canyon with her family.
The prescription medication used by Maynard to treat the swelling of her brain also caused rapid weight gain and facial swelling, according to The Brittany Fund website.

It's not known how or when Maynard died, but her website through the Compassion & Choices advocacy group stated Maynard would have used a prescription drug.
'For anyone who takes the prescription, it means falling off to sleep and peacefully passing on,' the website added.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
