Florida freshman QB Treon Harris has been suspended indefinitely from the team while he is under investigation by the University Police Department for a possible felony charge.
No charges have been filed, and it is currently a pending investigation, but the charges if proven, are serious.
The suspension comes after Harris stole the spotlight Saturday when he entered the game late in the third quarter in relief of starter Jeff Driskel and engineered a fourth quarter, come-from-behind 10-9 victory over Tennessee in Knoxville.
The Gators will host LSU on Saturday and it was widely expected that Harris might get the start in that game.
Florida coach Will Muschamp canceled his weekly Monday press conference unexpectedly Monday morning and has not made a statement on Harris' suspension.
Harris led Miami Booker T. Washington to two state titles, and a state runner-up in 2011. He was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl coached by his father, Tim Harris. He threw for more than 4,700 yards combined in his junior and senior year, and ran for more than 1,300.
