A Chicago Police captain was shot in the head Tuesday evening in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
About 6 p.m., the 58-year-old man was shot in the head near 72nd and Lowe, according to a police source. He was taken to Stroger Hospital according to a hospital spokeswoman. He was listed in critical condition.
The alleged shooter is wanted in Indiana, according to a police source.
Chicago Police confirmed police activity in the area but could not confirm any other details.
Police, including the Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist team are on the scene at 72nd and Lowe, where shots continue to be fired from inside the building, according to dispatch reports.
The incident is affecting Metra's Southwest Service, which runs on tracks immediately east of the building, maps show.
Train No. 831, scheduled to arrive at 179th Street at 7:21 p.m., and train No. 836, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:57 p.m., are both stopped because of the police activity as of 6:50 p.m., Metra's website said.
