BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed to a TV news station that a shooting has occurred at a state police barracks in northeastern Pennsylvania. WNEP television station also reports that the Pike County coroner was called to the scene.
The shooting occurred at the barracks in Blooming Grove, a township of about 4,000 people about 35 miles east of Scranton. Many police and emergency vehicles responded and road blocks were set up while a search is underway for the suspect. No one was in custody early Saturday morning.
Police told The Times-Tribune the shooting happened about 11 p.m. Friday. Authorities didn't release any other details. Lackawanna County dispatched its SWAT team, and helicopters were seen flying over the area.
Several roads around the barracks, including parts of Interstate 84, were closed.
