HELENA -- Democratic candidate Amanda Curtis said she's humbled and honored to be the voted nominee for US Senate and is now looking forward to her next move.
'And my mind immediately moved to our next steps so that we can make this happen for Montana,' said Curtis.
Those next steps will include gearing up for a statewide campaign that could have national implications when it comes to the balance of power in the US Senate.
Running a campaign across 147,000 square miles requires organization, employees, and volunteers as well as cold, hard cash.
Curtis says she's got a grassroots effort behind her campaign.
According to Curtis, people have come out of the woodwork to '...say this is the job that I can do, this is my specialty and sign me up wherever I am useful. And the plan is to get eyeball to eyeball with Montanans all cross the state to talk about the issues that are important to them.'
Curtis says she'll be looking for support from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
'I'm unbought and unbossed. And we'll be accepting support from folks who are going to be excited about this campaign that has a chance to make a real difference not only for Montana but in Washington.'
With agriculture being one of the single largest economic drivers in the state, we asked Curtis how she would support Montana farmers and ranchers if elected.
'A big part of this campaign will be traveling across the state and listening to folks who live in agriculture every single day about the issues that are important to them and in the end I'll base my decisions on what's best for Montana.'
Curtis says her message to Montana voters is, 'Watch Out.'
'You're getting what you asked for, which is not more of the same, but something truly different and exciting, that we can all get behind.'
