NBC is poised to name Chuck Todd as the new host of 'Meet the Press,' insiders tell the Daily News.
An NBC spokeswoman did not return request for comment.
'They're still working out the details,' a source with knowlege of the situation said Thursday. 'But the hope is to get it done by the end of the day, or early (Friday).'
Todd is currently the NBC News political director.
Todd's new job will likely put to rest a long period of speculation about the future of Gregory who has presided over the 43-percent ratings drop at 'Meet the Press' since he took over following the 2008 death of longtime host, Tim Russert.
NBC News chief Deborah Turness has maintained all summer that she supported Gregory in the job, but pressure has been building - both inside and outside the network - to make a change.
Gregory may reportedly move to CNN, joining his former boss, Jeff Zucker who is currently in charge of the cable news channel.
Politico reported earlier this week what many in the industry have been buzzing about for weeks - that Todd was the 'likely successor' to Gregory.
