Watch: Stephen Drew Smashes Two Homers in Sox' Day

Coming into Saturday's day-night doubleheader, Stephen Drew hadn't hit a home run since Game 6 of the 2013 World Series on Oct. 30 – a span of eight months and five days.

He gave the Red Sox' offense a much needed power boost against the Orioles, both in the light and at night.

In the first game of the two-game tilt, Drew hit a solo shot off of O's starter Miguel Gonzalez to give the Sox a 1-0 advantage. It was his first home run in the big leagues since his homer in the World Series put the Red Sox up 4-0 on their way to a 6-1 championship-clincher over the Cardinals.

In the second contest of the day, Drew's two-run blast in the bottom of the fourth helped the Sox come back and tie the game 2-2. You can see his homer from the FOX broadcast here.

Saturday was the first time a Red Sox player had homered in both games of a day-night doubleheader since Jacoby Ellsbury hit three over two games in the Bronx on Sept. 25, 2011. Drew was hitting .136 with a .182 slugging percentage entering the doubleheader; if his two homers on the day are any indication he's finally getting into a groove, then it can be nothing but good news for the weak Red Sox offense.
