A Colorado teen's attempt to help support al-Qaeda and its affiliates fight overseas was thwarted after she was arrested while boarding a flight to Turkey in April, according to court documents unsealed Wednesday.

Shannon Maureen Conley, 19, was arrested at the Denver International Airport by the FBI and charged with conspiring to help a foreign terrorist organization, which included the Islamic State of Iraq, the federal documents show.

The Arvada teen is accused of attempting to ultimately fly to Syria to meet a Tunisian suitor she met online in 2013.

The suitor apparently claimed to be fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, known as ISIL or ISIS.

Conley's grave intentions finally fell on federal authorities' radar after a security guard reported seeing her suspiciously taking notes around the Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, where a 2007 shooting occurred.

She was interviewed in November and allegedly told an agent that she hated 'those people' and 'if they think I'm a terrorist, I'll give them something to think I am,' The Denver Post reported.

One month later she was interviewed again and exclaimed herself as 'ready to wage jihad in a year' after undergoing military training with the army cadet program, the U.S. Army Explorers.

Conley's arrest capped a roughly eight month investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to the documents.
