ESCONDIDO (CBSLA.com) - Authorities Tuesday pursued the driver of a stolen dump truck from Ontario to Mira Mesa in San Diego County.
The empty truck, which was reported stolen in Ontario around 1 p.m., reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour during the chase on Interstate 15.
The driver allegedly attempted to run over an Ontario Police Department officer, according to CHP Information Officer Travis Monk.
The truck exited the freeway in Mira Mesa and pulled into a gas station just before 2:45 p.m.
The driver then exited the vehicle and was being chased by authorities.
It wasn't immediately clear if he was taken into custody.
